Privacy Policy

The Vancouver Recital Society (VRS) is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining the confidentiality of your personal information. We do not give, trade or share patron information to or with any other organization or individual, and we fully recognize your right to protect your personal information and to gain access to the information gathered.

We sometimes need to share limited contact and ticket purchase information with the theatres in which we present concerts in order to ensure patrons have access to the seats they’ve purchased for each performance, and so that the theatres are able to sell any remaining tickets at the door.

We also share limited contact information with a company contracted exclusively for the purpose of selling subscriptions.

In both cases – in the case of sharing with our theatres and for VRS subscription sales campaigns – privacy protections are maintained through a privacy agreement in place to govern this temporary sharing of information, which cannot be used for any other purpose.

In general, the information patrons provide to us is used to help us in our subscription and fundraising campaigns, to publicize our concerts, to process your concert ticket orders, provide tax-deductible receipts for your donations, and to provide news and updates about VRS activities.

We ensure that our purposes for collecting information are relevant. These include:

To understand who our patrons are and how we may improve our services to meet your personal preferences and expectations.
To process concert ticket, lottery ticket orders and donations, to process a credit card transaction you have initiated, and to issue and deliver your tickets or tax receipts.
To keep our patron listings current and accurate.
To recognize a contribution.
To register your attendance at a concert or other event.
To provide you with information regarding upcoming performances, events, opportunities and other Society news.
To respond to your information requests.

We respect your right to be removed from any or all of our mail, email, or telephone campaigns.
We offer all donors the opportunity to choose to remain anonymous or to specify how they wish to be recognized in our donor recognition materials.
We will never reveal the names of donors who have requested anonymity.
We will never give or exchange the names and addresses of subscribers and ticket purchasers with any other organization or individual.

If you wish to be added to a VRS “Do Not Mail”, “Do Not Call” or “Do Not Email” list, please write to with the Subject Heading “Do Not Contact”, advising which list you wish to be added to.

We continually review and improve methods of how subscriber and donor information is shared and stored. Hard copy files of specific donor/subscriber information are kept under lock and key.

Our computer systems are secure and protect donor and/or subscriber information from public access. Our web site also uses a secure server and SSL secure connections to obtain your personal information for donations, purchases and/or registration.

If you are registered with a log-in account on our website, we will use a cookie to save your settings and to provide customizable and personalized services. This cookie automatically expires after one month if the patron does not return to our website within 30 days. A cookie is a small data file used to collect and store information in order to provide a more personalized website experience and for statistical purposes to improve the services we provide. These cookies do not enable third parties to access any of your personally identifiable information.

Consent for the collection, retention, and use of personal patron information is implicit when patrons provide such information. Patrons have the right to provide only the personal information reasonably required to conduct their chosen transaction with the VRS.
Patrons may at any time limit or alter their consent for the VRS to collect, use, or retain personal information. Patrons may also review and correct their personal information at any time.

We welcome inquiries and appreciate feedback about how we can improve our service to our family of patrons. For further information or to register personal information changes, please contact:
