With his enormously diverse range of repertoire, Russian pianist Alexander Melnikov is in demand both as a soloist and chamber musician. At the VRS, we have enjoyed hearing him in both formats. These two Sunday performances offer the pleasure of hearing him on his own – in the afternoon – and in collaboration with Jean-Guihen Queyras in the evening.
“The brilliant verve of Jean-Guihen Queyras in the Debussy cello sonata marked him instantly as a performer we want to hear again and again” – The Financial Times
“Melnikov’s playing has wonderful colour and imagination” – Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
