It was our great pleasure to present pianist Evgeny Kissin at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts last night. After a program of Bach, Chopin and Shostakovich, Evgeny generously performed three encores: Bach: Siciliano (trans. Kempf) from Flute Sonata in E-flat major, BWV 1031, Chopin: Scherzo No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 31 and Chopin: Waltz in C-sharp minor, Op. 64, No. 2. What an incredible evening. Thank you, Evgeny, you dazzled us all! 👏

On this rainy Vancouver Sunday we escaped the gloom and headed to the Playhouse for a sublime afternoon of music courtesy of cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras and pianist Alexander Melnikov. After a program of Beethoven, Debussy and Rachmaninoff, the duo performed Chopin - Cello Sonata Op. 65, Movement III: Largo as an encore. ![]()
